Medical Causes of Bankruptcy

Thursday May 25, 2006
Want to protect your bank account -- and your ability to get loans? Watch out for medical costs. In February of 2005 the Joural of Health Affairs published a study that showed how medical costs led to about half of all bankruptcies. This study reinforced what others were saying in the past, and it's pretty scary. Even middle-class people with health insurance fell into bankruptcy because of huge out-of-pocket expenses. Read the article at the Journal's Website, and check over your health coverage. While you're at it, consider a long term disability insurance program as well.
