Here's a story about either the worst bank ever, or a customer service rep who needs more training. andrewdotcoza writes about a voicemail he received from his bank, and a subsequent conversation with a bank employee. From Andrew:
Me: Good morning. I'm returning a call about my credit cards.
Bank Employee: Sir, could you please give me your credit card number.
Me: Surely you mean my account number?
Bank Employee: No, Sir! Just read me the number printed on your credit card.
Of course, most banks promise that they will never ask you for sensitive information over the phone or via e-mail. The author was smart enough not to give in, even though it really was his bank. Scammers have been getting more and more creative over the years -- enlisting phone systems and other "old-fashioned" methods.
