Check float refers to the amount of time it takes for money to leave your checking account. You can write a check today and it'll take a few days before the check hits your account. Check float helps to keep some people out of trouble, but it will increasingly cause problems for those who rely on it. Make sure you understand what you’re doing if you’re taking advantage of check float.
