What to Do if Overwhelmed by Loans

More and more people find themselves overwhelmed by loans. Mortgage defaults are in the headlines, and we're learning that the subprime problem has tentacles reaching throughout the economy. What should overwhelmed borrowers do?

One of the best resources for debt help is the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC). This nonprofit organization offers legitimate advice through Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) offices. Beware that there are a lot of imposters posing as CCCS offices -- but they're typically looking to make a buck off of desperate people. If you need debt help, start at http://www.nfcc.org/.
