Missing Stimulus Payment?

Friday May 9, 2008
The IRS is reporting that some rebates are not going to come via direct deposit, even if you tried to use direct deposit.

It turns out that some taxpayers who used a tax preparation service may have to wait for a physical check. The rebate payment delays are related to:

A Denver news station reports,
"People who used preparation services like Turbo Tax and H&R Block are affected".
So, if it seems like your bank account is missing a stimulus payment, you should check with your tax preparer to see if it's going to be a while.

You can see a schedule of tax rebate mailings at IRS.gov.

I used turbo tax to file my income tax and requested direct deposit for my stimulus payment. I have not received the stimulus payment and it has been suggested to contact you. When might I receive it?

I updated the text above to link to the IRS’s schedule of mailings. You can see when the check goes out based on your SSN.

I just received an e-mail from TurboTax and they said they do not control when the IRS send the rebates out. I still have not received my stimulus and had no issues having my refund deposited earlier this year? Here is what they said:

Further, I would like to inform you that the IRS is the only one who has control over when the rebates go out, if you had direct deposit on your 2007 federal return then according to the IRS you will receive your rebate by direct deposit. The sending out of rebates depends on the IRS payment schedule.

The IRS now has a “Where’s My Stimulus Payment”, on the site.

The link below will help you know the status of your payment

TurboTax has nothing to do with the newly implemented Stimulus rebate procedures by IRS.

I really apologize for the inconveniences that caused to you in this regard.

As one of our valued customers your satisfaction is one of our primary concern. We sincerely appreciate your continued patronage to TurboTax.

- So, what is the real story and why can’t anyone just say that instead of having a schedule. Grrrr

I used Turbo Tax to prepare my taxes, and selected that I would like my stimulus check electronically deposited. It is now over two weeks past the date I should have received my electronic deposit according to my social security number and the schedule set out by the IRS. I filed my return well before the due date, did not have any tax preparer fees deducted, and did not get a loan, so according to everything I can find my check should have been on time. Do I just assume the IRS screwed up and I will be getting a paper check instead, or do I need to notify them my direct deposit never arrived? I’ve called their so-called “help” line, and you cannot speak to an actual human, and entering my information into the “Where’s my stimulus check?” form just gets me a message that no information is available.

I would try to talk to a live person at IRS if you didn’t have anything deducted from your refund. You’ll want to make sure that they got the bank account correct and that everything is in good order. If it’s not urgent to you, you could wait until later in the year. After all the dust settles from the rebates you may have better luck getting ahold of somebody.

I too used Turbo Tax with direct deposit of my refund, no preparer’s fees deducted from my refund, etc. I filed on time, no issues, etc. No payment even though I was supposed to receive it May 9th. It is the 28th. IRS site says no information is available. Why can’t the IRS at least address this issue since there are now so many complaints on the web about it. No one understands why they’re not getting their payment… Somebody please wake up at IRS!!

Well according to the information I have,I should of received my payment by the 11th of July..
I did not file with any tax service companies or anything unusual that would lead to a delayed payment at all.

I still do not have any payment and the notice I received states “you can expect your payment within 6 weeks of this notice”…

Thats not until the end of August..
Our government is just garbage..
Our economy is garbage..
The united states is no longer to me what I grew up thinking it was..

This is what you get for voting for a damned fool..
