We're heading towards hurricane season, and some parts of the USA have already seen disastrous floods and tornadoes. What does this have to do with your bank account?

In any disaster, your bank might be destroyed. Of course your physical well-being is the highest priority and you should spend time preparing for your family's safety. After that, consider how else you can prepare. You'll have plenty of headaches to deal with, and you don't want to add banking problems to the mix.

To prepare for a disaster at your bank, you should make sure that your money is accessible to you no matter what happens. You can do this by linking accounts electronically, using a big name or two, and spreading your money around. For details, see What to do if Your Bank is Destroyed.
