GnuCash: Balance the Books for Free

GnuCash is a free program that helps you balance your checkbook, track your spending, and even keep books on your business. It's an open source program available on GNU/Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.

Consumerism Commentary recently highlighted the program. I use it myself, and agree with Flexo's assessment:

It’s a little weird at first, but it begins to make more sense as you have more practice.
The program is very powerful, so takes some thinking when you set it up. There are a few wizards, but it's really up to you to make it work the way you want. To find out more, start with an overview of GnuCash and then start using it.
