Presidential Candidates and Mortgage Bailout

The leading presidential candidates have shared reactions to the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bailouts in recent days. Both used the incident as an opportunity to criticize the status quo in Washington. However, they have different views on what should happen going forward.

According to the New York Times, McCain favors privatizing lending activities, while Obama prefers to keep a public-private hybrid with more oversight.
