Is My Bank Safe?

As we see huge banks go under, you might wonder if your bank is safe.

If you are completely insured by the FDIC (for banks) or NCUSIF (for credit unions), you probably won't be inconvenienced by a bank failure. However, you might want to avoid the prospect of a bank failure just in case. If you want to find out how strong your bank is, see what the rating services say about it.

Note that pulling your money from a weak bank can help to cause or accelerate its failure. For fully insured individuals, participating in a bank run is probably a waste of time - so only move your accounts if you feel the need to do so.
