Clear Sky Accounts Pay 3.75% APY

Tuesday January 6, 2009
Rate chasers: here's a new one for you.

Clear Sky Accounts are a new online banking option. At the moment you earn 3.75% annual percentage yield (APY) with no fees and no minimum balance. The rate is guaranteed through 3/31/09.

You can also use their checking account, which pays at least 2.50%. You don't get a checkbook, but you can use their online bill pay service and they reimburse up to $20/month in ATM fees.

So far the account looks like a pretty good deal. The website is very basic, but your money is FDIC insured. A few readers at Bankdeals have begun opening accounts and leaving reports of their experience.

Are you banking with Clear Sky Accounts? Tell us how it's going in the comments.

I’ve opened an account with Clear Sky. The on-line application process was a breeze, and the customer service has been excellent.

You should look into CheckingFinder.com. This search tool identifies credit unions and community banks paying up to 6%. Just type in your zip.

My last comment didn’t post (maybe under moderation), but a helpful tool to share is CheckingFinder.com which identifies community banks/credit unions paying up to 6%. Just type in your zip.
