HSBC Free Checking Changes

HSBC used to offer a nice free checking account. They've changed the policy, and the account is no longer available.

If you previously opened an HSBC free checking account, you were grandfathered in - but you need to pay attention to the account. If you do not initiate any activity in the account for 90 days, they'll switch your account to a "Basic Banking" account. You enjoy the same features you had before, but you have to pay $3/month.

Other banks may have done something similar. Check in on your accounts if you haven't lately, and see if anything has changed.
