Do you know how long your bank keeps transaction information online?

It may be important if you need details to do your taxes or figure out how much you paid for a long-forgotten item. Some banks are generous with data, and some keep it to a minimum.

Jim Bruene of NetBanker describes how he was left digging through paper statements and doing manual data entry to get tax filings done on time.

It could happen to you too. If you don't download your transaction data regularly - every 60 to 90 days or so - you may miss some transactions. Banks offer a "window" of transaction data, and if you're out of luck if the window closes.

Make sure you login and download data regularly so you can keep track of your finances. If you can't or won't do it regularly, consider an online service that does it for you.
