When you stock up on food, do you pay by check?
It may become more difficult in the future. Some grocery stores, such as Whole Foods and Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, don't allow customers to write or cash checks. Instead, payments are made by cash, credit, and debit cards.
The troubled economy is partly to blame. More bounced checks mean more losses at the supermarket, and executives hope lines will move faster as well.
Stores may suffer by turning away consumers who use checks, especially older customers and those who want to cash their paychecks.
What do you think? Would you switch grocery stores so you can continue to write checks? Tell us about it in the comments.

I am glad to see theses stores are not taking checks. I think all stores should do this as it will speed up the lines. I see old ladies fumbling with their purses and checkbooks and it take them forever to write a check. I taught my 81 yr old Mother how to use a credit/debit card and she now realizes how much easier it is to make a transaction or purchase. It should lower the prices at the stores because there will be no bounced checks to deal with so the store will not lose any revenue due to bad checks. I think we should stop using checks all together. I’m an old fart that loves modern technology.
Good and well for an “old fart that loves modern technology” but sometimes “older farts” need to remember when they made a purchase . . . also most checks are cleared “instantly” like in Walmart and other stores.
