Now is the time to start on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - if you haven't already. FAFSA allows you to pursue government backed programs that make higher education more affordable. It may also come in handy for grants and scholarships from private groups.
As you may imagine, resources are limited. Some aid comes on a first-come first-served basis. It's important to get the ball rolling as soon as possible, and you can start now. Marketplace Money reports that the forms may be intimidating, but they are manageable and the process has improved.
