About a year ago, the FDIC took control of the Bank of Clark County in Washington.
Chana Joffe-Walt painted a picture of the process and described what it's like for employees at the bank. Last week, the Planet Money team revisited the story.
They catch up with a few characters from the Bank of Clark County. We hear touching stories about building bonds while unwinding the bank and how a former employee landed on his feet. It's a refreshing reminder that there are a variety of "bankers" out there.
We also learn that the Bank of Clark County did not just get dragged under due to a sour economy. There were signs of trouble well before the failure, but employees allegedly created a separate set of records to keep problems hidden.
