Were there more bank robberies last year as a result of the recession?
It turns out that bank robberies decreased from 2008. When you count all types of financial institutions (credit unions, banks, savings and loan, etc) the total comes to 5,943. In 2008 that number was 6,700.

Bank robberies are often uneventful (ideally, for the safety of all involved) and not a very good deal for robbers. Commercial banks see the most robberies, probably because there are more locations to tempt robbers.
