If you're tech-savvy or young enough, you may not even know what a check ledger is.

When writing checks, it's helpful to know whether or not you have money in your account.  If you're cutting it close, a check ledger can tell you what you need to know.  Even in the age of online banking, a physical check ledger may come in handy.

You can get the same information online, but it may not be in the format you prefer.  Plus, a check ledger provides instant access to a spending record.  This can help you figure out where your money's going, and help you spend less.  For more on using check ledgers, see 4 Reasons to Keep a Check Ledger.
