Auto dealers often hype the rates on their loans -- sometimes offering 0% financing. Is it really a good deal?
It's always worth shopping around because you may find better deals at your bank or credit union. In addition, 0% financing doesn't mean free (if the purchase price goes up you might not really save money). However, dealer financing is more attractive than usual these days. Banks are still hesitant to lend, and increasingly frugal consumers are keeping used car prices high.
In some cases, your best deal will be a new car financed with a dealer incentive. It's counter intuitive to buy new if you really want to save money, but new cars are worth a look.
