If you own a small business, there's a good chance that your personal credit is affected by your business loans.
Things may be separate in your mind (and on paper, the way it should be) but credit reporting companies don't always see things the same way. If you used your personal credit to get a loan or credit card for the business, that account will show up on your personal credit reports.
Liz Weston reminds a reader that business credit accounts can affect your personal credit scores. So if you're having trouble with your personal credit, see what can be done about business accounts. Do you use most of your credit limit every month? If so, it may look like you're barely treading water (even if you pay the card off fully each month -- it just depends when an account snapshot is taken).
Start separating personal and business credit as soon as you can; you'll protect yourself and increase the value of your business.
