What You Need to Know About Wamu.com

By Justin Pritchard, About.com

Wamu.com is the website of the old Washington Mutual bank. Since the bank failed, Wamu.com is changing. Learn what to expect and when you’ll see changes at Wamu.com

What Happens to Wamu.com?

Chase took over Washington Mutual, so Wamu.com will no longer work. During a transition period, customers continue to use Wamu.com as usual, but all accounts will eventually transition to Chase.com.

If you use online bill pay at Wamu.com, all of your payees will automatically transfer to Chase.com’s bill pay system.

If you use automatic ACH payments, keep an eye out for news from chase on any changes you'll need to make.

When Will Wamu.com Go Away?

According to Chase, Wamu.com will no longer work after October of 2009. You should receive notices from Wamu.com and see announcements there as the transition progresses.

Why is Wamu.com Going Away?
