Insufficient Funds

Definition: A situation where an account does not have enough money to cover a payment. When writing a check, you must have enough in the account to pay the check or you've got insufficient funds. May be reported in your ChexSystems file.
Also Known As: Non-sufficient funds (NSF)
Examples: My account has insufficent funds so my check bounced.
