Underwriting Fees

Definition: Fees charged for evaluating your riskiness as a borrower. In the underwriting process, your lender decides whether or not they think you'll repay your loan as agreed. They look at your credit, debt to income ratios, and more.
Examples:
An average underwriting fee is about $300.
