GreenNote Expands Private Student Loan Offering

We recently covered how GreenNote works to help students get loans from friends, family, and other acquaintances. During these tough economic times, private student loans are hard to get.

GreenNote now allows students to borrow from a wider population -- not just the people they know. The expanded approach sounds similar to Prosper.com or Lending Club, where anybody can sign up and start lending money. GreenNote handles all of the loan operations and servicing.

P2P lending is taking off at a time when it's most needed. Banks are skittish about losing more money, and individuals seem more than willing to step in and make loans.
