Earthquakes and the Bank

When disaster strikes, your safety is the first priority. Once everybody is well and accounted for, you may wonder how an event such as an earthquake will affect your finances. Will it create headaches?

It may be more difficult to visit a branch for a while, but otherwise this should be a non-event for your personal finances -- you can expect charge cards to continue working, and online banking should be unaffected.

If you've experienced any inconvenience, you may want to do more banking electronically (or at least have the ability to do so). Nowadays it's easy to pay bills online and deposit checks at home (or with your mobile phone). Get the systems in place -- whether or not you use them -- so the next disaster is as easy as can be expected.
