Bank of America Offers Mobile Phone Deposits

By August 3, 2012

Follow me on:

The wait is over for Bank of America customers who want to deposit checks with a mobile phone. B of A launched a remote check deposit application for the iPad last week. As of yesterday, iPhone and Windows Phone users can also make deposits.

Depositing a check with a mobile device is really quick and easy -- a lot easier than any of the alternatives in my opinion. An application on your device will guide you through the process. Just snap a photo of the front and back of your check, and verify some information. All of this takes less than 2 minutes. While you can also deposit checks quickly at an ATM, it's nice to keep the check in your possession until you know that the deposit appears correctly in your account (you can't do that when you deposit at the ATM).

Remote deposit is free at Bank of America, and it's free at other major banks as well. For more information, see Bank of America's Mobile Banking page.

How long before a check is cleared via phone app ?
I just used it and it doesn’t appear in my mobile statement. Thanks?!

I haven’t used B of A for this, but most other banks at least show something online within a few minutes. A “Pending” deposit or something would be helpful. Call them and ask if you still don’t see it. You may need to re-deposit, but I’d double check with B of A first.

I used it on Sunday, all it says is pending online. Using mobile deposits is probably more convenient when you are not in a hurry to money in your account. Until the can come up with a quicker transmission ill just stick to an ATM machine.
