Check question

Can you put a 'void after a certain amount of days' on a check? To get the person to cash it sooner so they don't hold the check for months before they decide to cash it? ANSWER: You can certainly write that on the check (if only to encourage a speedy deposit), but your bank might not enforce it. Your checking account agreement with your bank should dictate whether or not they'll honor any restrictions you put on the check. Call your bank and ask what the policy is.

Got my own checks now

I'm so glad this site helped me learn how to write a check! I'm so used to paying things with a card and it's good to know how to do it the old fashion way!

Rent, for starters

I wrote my first check for rent. It was scary spending that much money. First/last month's rent plus deposit. Too bad the numbers have not gotten any smaller...
